Taichung National Theater: A New Challenge for Shang Kai Steel’s Metal Mesh. The Taichung National Theater is a world-famous architectural landmark. Its exterior looks unique — not the typical straight lines and flat surfaces seen in traditional buildings. Instead, the theater features many flowing curves where walls, floors, and ceilings blend into continuous 3D surfaces. Building such a design was extremely challenging. Turning complex and seamless curved surfaces from design into reality required advanced construction techniques and special structural support materials to handle curve variations, uneven force distribution, and material shaping difficulties. In this project, Shang Kai Steel provided custom-made SK expanded metal mesh as the structural material for the curved surfaces. The metal mesh helped the construction team successfully complete the complex facade of the National Theater — a very demanding task.
